A Generalized Scidar is beeing developed at the Instituto de Astronomía, UNAM, by the Instrumentation Department. This instrument measures the vertical profiles of the optical-turbulence strength and wind velocity, which are key-parameters for the development of high angular resolution techniques in optical astronomy, as well as for the identification of the ideal sites for future groundbased telescopes.
